 Goes Green!!! We face southwest so we have perfect placement for sunshine a good portion of each day. We are hoping to have a zero electric bill. |

We are still on the grid, but we give our excess electricity back to the utility. They give us a credit for the excess electricity and it comes straight off our bill.
Essentially we have free (solar) electricity during the daylight hours (peak usage) and during the nighttime hours our electric bill is paid from the excess electricity we have created during the day. It's really pretty awesome to watch our electric meter run backwards!!! 
This method eliminates the need for storage batteries which are very costly.

In addition to our solar panels the B&B has also purchased an all electric car to run short errands to town or to the beach. With the solar panels, our electric car is totally off the grid. Woo Hoo!!! |

We also have a computer program which allows us to monitor the performance of each solar panel. This not only lets us know if any of the panels are not performing well, but it also lets us know if we need to trim the trees to allow more light to hit any particular panel. |
